Q: How often should we host events?

A: We expect you to host one event at least every 3 months (4 times per year), but you can host events more often. Our most successful cities are very frequent, hosting once per month or every 2 months. Our least successful cities have many months in between events and end up losing momentum. It’s actually easier to host more frequently than to wait a long time between them.

Q: If sponsors provide services or items other than cash, like food & beverage, are we expected to pay 20% of that value to Founders Live HQ?

A: No, the 20% revenue share is only for ticket sales from Eventbrite or sponsorship money paid to the Founders Live organization to support the city event. We have an invoicing program that handles this for you.

Q: The contract states that city leaders keep 80% of event revenue. If the events are free, how does this work?

A: ANY REVENUE generated from events is shared, including ticket sales AND sponsorships. City leaders can choose to price their tickets but we suggest offering free events, especially when launching a new city. We also encourage you to find sponsors to cover optional costs like food and drink.

Q: I filled out paperwork to sign up for the PEX card but haven't received it.

A: We are making changes to the card which will take a few months to be fully finalized and cards to be distributed, hopefully by end of 2022. For now, notify Team Founders Live if you have a paid sponsor lined up and we'll address it on case by case basis.

Q: How do we get invited to the FL City Leader category on The Arena?

A: City leaders should be using The Arena instead of Slack. Click here to join, then send Luis your Discord username. Once in, you will see the City Leaders category with many channels in which to communicate, share, cheer each other on, and ask questions.

Q: How do we execute voting and invite participants to vote during the events?

A: Founders Live voting is generated by FL HQ using Google Forms, after which we send you the voting and results links a day or so before your event begins. You will then edit the form to add your presenting startup names. The Voting section of the Playbook explains more about the voting experience for your events.

Q: How do we sign up for a Founders Live membership and log in at FoundersLive.com?

A: As a city leader, you are entitled to a 12-month Founders Live Professional membership at the special Insider tier, a $660 USD value. Sign up for membership here, then log in using the Member Login link in our website’s navigation bar. Send Luis Antezana any questions.

Q: How do we get the StreamYard login info so we can livestream?

A: See the "StreamYard Details and Livestreaming" section of the Playbook

Q: How do we get our first event’s Eventbrite page?

A: Launch event (or a city leader’s first event): Founders Live HQ sets up the Eventbrite page, then adds the city leader as an admin.

Subsequent events: Simply copy your previous event. In Eventbrite, up at the top right, choose to Copy your previous event, then change relevant info, check the ticket info, and Publish.

Q: What hashtag should we use in our social media posts? Is there a specific page link that we should include in any of our posts, emails, or promotions?
