As much as you may like being a City Leader, at some point it will be time to leave.
That’s OK! Everything must end.
In fact, an optimal timespan for a City Leader is about two years. Within this timeframe you learn, you get good, you grow, you tire, you realize it’s time to move on. It doesn’t make sense to stay any longer than that.
We don’t want you to worry about that day when you realize you’re done. We support your growth, and the day you outgrow Founders Live will be a proud day for everyone.
We appreciate your service.
We also ask that you finish your time with us by taking care of a few details that will help us transition to new leadership, as outlined below in The Leaving Process.
When you leave your role as City Leader, we’ll need a new person to replace you. Ideally there will be no gap in the cadence of events you’ve already established.
How can that happen?
Ideally, by finding and training your replacement in advance. This way they can assume the role once it’s open.
This includes making sure they have full access to whatever digital files and systems you’ve created, in addition to familiarity with global resources we provide (like this one).
As soon as you know it’s time to leave, please fill out this quick form: https://airtable.com/shr72Ub12QLxxH1rr
We will be emailing you occasionally as we continue to fully unwind your role as city leader and onramp a new person.
We thank you again for your time with the organization.
Thing don’t always go as planned. We get it.
As always, open communication will yield the best results for everyone. The more you can keep us informed about your situation, the more smooth and respectful your transition will be for everyone.
Our priority is to serve our community to the best of our ability, so let’s work with that in mind.
